Jaime Lerner has been a prominent figure in American architecture and urban planning for more than thirty years. He is the founder and president of the Center for Urban Pedagogy, a think tank devoted to developing and implementing models of urban education and community development. After distinguished careers in business, banking, and academia, he became the director of the Center for Urban Pedagogy in 1985. His work has been recognized with awards from both professional and civic institutions
In 1996 he was named a UNESCO Professor of Design for his innovative approaches to urban education. His work has been featured in the media all over the world.
